The face behind Anchor Law and what motivates us to do what we do
Aleksandar Jeremić is the founder and principal at Anchor Law. He is a Barrister and Solicitor based in Toronto, Canada, and Anchor Law is the embodiment of his immigration and refugee law practice. But more than that, he is an immigrant himself who moved to Canada with his parents as a result of the wars that ravaged the Balkans in the 1990s.
This experience sparked an interest in international affairs and politics early in his life and Aleksandar pursued an undergraduate and graduate degree in Political Science at the University of Toronto.
His intellectual curiosity then led him to the law program at the University of Ottawa, where he realized that immigration and refugee law appealed to him. It perfectly combines his interest in politics and global issues with his desire to be an advocate and work with the public.
During law school he worked at an Ottawa-based immigration law office, and then articled at a boutique insurance defence firm. Although working in a different area of the law taught him valuable new skills and allowed him to gain advocacy experience in appearances before the Ontario Superior Court, it also reinforced his belief that immigration and refugee law is his true calling.
The next logical step was to start Anchor Law and infuse his practice with the experience and empathy born out of his work and own life experience.
Statement by the Founder and Principal
Through my practice I hope to combine my personal experience as an immigrant and my legal training, to deliver compassionate, timely, and value-based legal services. I envision the Anchor Law website as a resource-rich tool to help you find general information as quickly as possible and a portal through which you can contact me easily.
If you require legal advice and representation, I hope to be your guide through the legal process with full transparency and on the basis of a solid strategy. I will strive to communicate with you promptly and clearly, provide a fair and honest assessment of your case, and only take your case on if I can fully commit myself to your cause.
